SOUTH SUDAN

Generosity builds a great nation, but it goes unnoticed and receives less attention. There is so much better than bad in countries like South Sudan. However, little is said, and most of the time, nothing is said about it. Nations like South Sudan only get attention when the negative is happening, completely undermining the good that existed.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is a distinct honor to introduce you to Giving Tuesday South Sudan.

Giving Tuesday South Sudan is a national volunteer movement and part of Giving Tuesday that promotes generosity throughout South Sudan. Giving Tuesday is a global movement unleashing radical generosity's power. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea and a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires millions to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

As country leaders for Giving Tuesday South Sudan, we believe a great nation is built on charity. We aim to empower individuals and organizations to unleash their giving potential to help improve South Sudan.

Our movement is carried out by those dedicated to building a better South Sudan and the world for all of us. Each one of us has something to give. Whether it’s time, volunteer effort, or money, we all have a gift to give to one another. Generosity and kindness live in each of us. We must embody these traits daily to support the communities we cherish.

We can do this by joining forces with global leaders like Giving Tuesday. But we can also join forces on a smaller scale as people. Together, we can deliver a much-needed act of kindness to help every village in South Sudan thrive.

Please help us introduce Giving Tuesday South Sudan as a movement to individuals and organizations throughout South Sudan and around the world. Let us tell you why we need to combine our efforts NOW!

After almost two decades of civil war, on July 9, 2011, South Sudan seceded from Sudan to become its nation. However, the joy of independence and its corresponding peace has been tempered by the destruction and loss of life caused by the civil war.

An estimated 2 million people lost their lives in the war. Thousands of children have been orphaned. Up to 4 million people have been displaced, healthcare and school facilities have been leveled, and drinking water supplies have been destroyed during the civil war.

The lack of healthcare, clean water, and education and growing poverty remain the most significant issues that most people in South Sudan battle daily. Many villages across South Sudan have no hospitals, running water, transportation, or electricity.

South Sudan became an independent country with generosity in mind. To support this young nation and help it thrive, we’re bringing its people together through Giving Tuesday South Sudan. The heart and mission of Giving Tuesday South Sudan is a commitment to empowering real ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

It starts with hope. Leading the way as citizens of South Sudan, we genuinely believe we’ll restore the minds and souls of the people. As country leaders, we vow to continue with acts of kindness and hope you will join us.

We’re attracting everyone who believes in the common good. We’re excited to work with those who want to create access to the following:

Improving these areas will surely give our country’s citizens hope and opportunities.

Giving Tuesday South Sudan serves as a platform to promote generosity, highlight issues, provide knowledge, and advise those interested in taking action to address the most pressing problems throughout South Sudan. We aim to get everyone involved and welcome people from all walks of life.

We will achieve this goal in three steps:

Our first step is to gather at least one volunteer individual or small group of people to join our movement as Giving Tuesday South Sudan representatives.

Second, the team will create a web page and Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp accounts, including links to Giving Tuesday Global. These and other digital assets will serve as a source of information for anyone who wants to know more or join the movement.

In our third and final step, we will continue planning and strategizing to best participate in 2025 Giving Tuesday as an event of Giving Tuesday South Sudan. Before Giving Tuesday 2025, we will conduct monthly Zoom meetings to discuss issues each representative faces in their neighborhood. We’ll create plans of action to bring awareness and great attention to those problems. We will also extend more invitations to communities across South Sudan and worldwide to participate in discussions.

If you have further questions and want to get involved, please don’t hesitate to contact William Deng and Tande Elias. Remember, life was a gift from God, and it is the most precious thing we all have in common, so giving is a part of who we are as living beings and as citizens of South Sudan.

Thank you, and may God bless you! #GivingTuesdaySouthSudan
